World Book Fair begins in New Delhi
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education has organised an Essay competition in Indian Sign Language at the World Book Fair in New Delhi on February 27, 2023, at Pragati Maidan.
New Delhi: The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education has organised an Essay competition in Indian Sign Language at the World Book Fair in New Delhi on February 27, 2023, at Pragati Maidan. It was a unique initiative of NIOS to provide a platform to the Deaf and hard of hearing learners. NIOS has been working for the implementation of NEP-2020 in various ways and this initiative was really a step forward in that direction.Two eminent scholars, Ms. Saudamini Pethe, Director, of All India Foundation of Deaf Women and Board Trustee of Access Mantra Foundation and Sh. Siddharth Gautam, Joint Secretary of Disabled Employment Association of Railway were invited as a jury.
Total 24 learners took part in this competition with great enthusiasm and zeal. The toughest job for our judges was to find out winners for the competitions but few participants were chosen as they have put their efforts and hard work to be the winner. The winners were judged by Ms. Saudamini Pethe, Director, of All India Foundation of Deaf Women and Board Trustee of Access Mantra Foundation and Sh. Siddharth Gautam, Joint Secretary of Disabled Employment Association of Railway. All the participants were given certificate of participation.
The Hon'ble Minister of State for Education, Government of India, Dr. Subhas Sarkar Ji also visited the stall of NIOS at the World Book Fair in New Delhi today, on February 28, 2023. He appreciated the initiatives and work of NIOS and also congratulated it on its future endeavors.
