Madhubani (RNI) The Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his first public address following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, declared that those responsible—both the perpetrators and the conspirators—will face punishment harsher than they could have imagined.
Speaking 25 km from the Madhubani district headquarters in Bihar, the Prime Minister asserted that the attack was not just on unarmed tourists, but on the very soul of India.
“This attack has not only targeted innocent tourists but has dared to strike at the soul of our nation,” Mr. Modi said with visible emotion.
The address took place during the National Panchayati Raj Day celebrations, where the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth thousands of crores across Bihar and the Mithila region.
He emphasized, “I want to make it very clear — the terrorists behind this attack and those who conspired to make it happen will receive a punishment greater than they can imagine. Justice will be served.”
Calling for the complete eradication of terrorism, he added, “Now is the time to destroy every remaining stronghold of terrorism. The collective will of 140 crore Indians will break the spine of these terror masterminds.”
Several senior NDA leaders were present at the event, including Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Highlighting developmental strides in Bihar, the Prime Minister spoke about infrastructure projects involving electricity, railways, and roads that are set to generate new employment opportunities. “AIIMS facilities were once limited to big cities like Delhi. Today, one is being built right here in Darbhanga. In the last ten years, the number of medical colleges in India has nearly doubled, and a new one is coming up in Jhanjharpur,” he stated.
He also shared updates on transportation infrastructure, including the progress of metro work in Patna and the launch of the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail between Patna and Jaynagar, which is expected to ease travel for lakhs of residents in Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Begusarai.
Mr. Modi also inaugurated the modern Amrit Bharat train from Saharsa to Mumbai, aimed at facilitating travel for workers. He said air connectivity has significantly improved through Darbhanga Airport, and expansion is underway at Patna Airport.
Addressing the recurring flood issues in the Kosi region of Mithila, the Prime Minister announced a major initiative: “The government will invest Rs 11,000 crore to reduce the impact of floods. This includes building dams on the Bagmati, Dhar, Budhi Gandak, and Kosi rivers, as well as canals for irrigation to ensure water reaches every farmer’s field.”
Referring to local produce, he noted, “Makhana is now recognized as a superfood globally, but it has always been an integral part of Mithila’s culture. We are turning this cultural identity into a source of prosperity.”
He also highlighted Bihar’s steady progress in fish production and stated that many families involved in fish farming are now benefiting from access to Kisan Credit Cards.L.S.
