SEPTUAGENARIAN RETIRED TEACHER KILLED

Ara, 9 November 2022, (RNI): Motorcycle borne unidentified armed miscreants shot dead a septuagenarian retired teacher at Friends’ Colony at Katira locality under Nawada police station in the late evening and escaped. A named FIR was lodged with the police under Nawada police station in this regard against six persons including Mahendra Rai, cousin brother-in-laws of the deceased and his two sons Ashutosh Kumar and Bhashkar on the statement of Pushpanjali, daughter of the deceased. Later the police arrested Mahendra Rai and his two sons Ashutosh Kumar and Bhashkar. Land dispute was said to be the cause behind the incident.

SHO Nawada police station Avinash Kumar Singh said some unidentified armed miscreants had shot at and injured Siddhnath Kumar Rai, son of late Subhash rai, a septuagenarian  retired teacher  was sitting in his house at Friends’ Colony at Katira locality under Nawada police station when motorcycle borne unidentified armed miscreants came and knocked the door and as he peeped through the window, the miscreants pumped bullet into his body and escaped from the scene. The injured was rushed to the Ara Sadar Hospital but the doctors referred him to the Patna Medical College and Hospital in precarious condition where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His last rites were performed at Digha Ghat in Patna. The ASP along with police force reached the incident site and collected information regarding the incident.  The deceased was a resident of Koran Dihara under Sahar police station but he lived at Friends’ Colony in Ara.

Quoting the FIR, the SHO said that Siddhnath Kumar Rai was gifted nine bighas of land and a house at Nirbhay Dihara under Sikarhatta police station in Bhojpur district by his in-laws that was a bone of contention in between him and some family members of his in-laws. His cousin brother-in-Law Mahendra Rai and his sons Ashutosh Kumar and Bhashkar along with others had gone to Koran Dihara to get back the land some days ago and had a tiff with the deceased and his family. They knew that Siddhnath Kumar Rai lived in Ara all alone. And at last they killed Siddhnath Kumar Rai.
