Revanth indulged in defection, treacherous tactics and unconstitutional crimes: Dasoju

Hyderabad (RNI) Shri Revanth Reddy, despite being the Chief Minister of Telangana, is brazenly and openly  indulging in promoting defections of public representatives, including MLAs, MPs, and MLCs from BRS, disregarding the Nyay Patra and showing utter disrespect to the Indian Constitution. These treacherous political tactics are against Gandhian and Nehruvian thoughts.

However, Instead of regulating and restricting Shri Revanth Reddy from committing such unconstitutional crimes, to our utter dismay, both Shri Rahul Gandhi and Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji have shown support, solidarity and endorsed these defections by happily meeting the defected MLA, Shri Pocharam Srinivas Reddy yesterday as if there a separate constitution in Telangana that legitimises defections.

Dasoju wished to remind Congress high command of the 13th promise made in the Nyay Patra, which unequivocally states, "We promise to amend the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution and make defection (leaving the original party on which the MLA or MP was elected) an automatic disqualification of the membership in the Assembly or Parliament."

This solemn promise is being blatantly violated by now openly supporting  defections of elected public representatives from the BRS Party. This not only shows a flagrant disrespect for the Nyay Patra but also undermines the core values and ethics it stands for.

The open endorsement of such actions by Shri Rahul Gandhi and Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji further compounds the issue, bringing into question the commitment of the party to its own stated principles. What moral authority will your party retain now to question if your party’s elected members of parliament are lured and encouraged to defect to other parties nationally?

Shri Rajiv Gandhi once said, "Defections are a betrayal of the people’s mandate and undermine the democratic process." However, these unconstitutional actions of poaching MLAs starkly contradict the principles of democracy championed by the late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. It is deeply ironic and disappointing that you all including Shri Revanth Reddy once vociferously decried political defections and I must remind that Shri Revanth reddy once even called for stone pelting on all defected MLAs, now indulges in the same practices he previously condemned. These double standards highlight the disrespect for the legislative principles put in place by Shri Rajiv Gandhi to prevent such political opportunism and protect Indian Democracy.

The Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India clearly mandates the disqualification of any MLA or MP who shifts to another political party. However, Shri Danam Nagender, a sitting BRS MLA from the Khairatabad Assembly, was made to contest as an MP for the Secunderabad Parliament on an Indian National Congress ticket in the recent general elections. Four more sitting MLAs, namely Shri Kadium Srihari, Shri Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Shri M. Sanjay Kumar, and Shri T. Venkat Rao, along with a few MLCs, an MP, and others from BRS, were made to join the Indian National Congress directly by Chief Minister Shri Revanth Reddy. Despite these glaring violations, is it ironical to see the AICC is openly supporting such abuse of anti-defection laws, which is advocating to protect the Indian Constitution all across India.

By promoting political defections, Shri Revanth Reddy is turning Telangana politics into an immoral business enterprise, destroying socio-political tranquility and constitutional accountability, irresponsibly justifying these actions by claiming that such defections have happened in the past too. Additionally, in order to build his own coterie in the party, he is defecting elected MLAs from other parties, and weakening the party’s rank and file, particularly the senior leaders and old cadre who have been loyal to the party through thick and thin, where as the AICC has turned blind such conspiracies and manipulative actions.

Elections come and go; parties come and go; leaders come and go; but constitutional values and political ethics must be eternally upheld. If we fail to do so, we will stand before future generations with the guilt of setting wrong precedents. As Dr. B.R. Ambedkar wisely said, “However good a constitution may be, if those who are implementing it are not good, it will prove to be bad. However bad a constitution may be, if those implementing it are good, it will prove to be good.”

Therefore, it is imperative to introspect on how one can support actions that violate the fundamental principles of the Indian Constitution and undermine the sanctity of the Nyay Patra and the very foundation of our democracy. It is crucial to take immediate and decisive action to rectify these wrongs and restore faith in our commitment to constitutional values..

The responsibility now lies with both of you to protect the sanctity of the Nyay Patra, stop Shri Revanth Reddy' s illegal detections, uphold the letter and spirit of the Indian constitution, and restore democratic values in Telangana. Your actions will set a precedent for how Indian National Congress is perceived and will determine whether it stand by its own principles or fall to political expediency..
