Political crisis in MCD election
New Delhi, 8 November 2022, (RNI): The Delhi Municipal Corporation elections will start tomorrow & there are signs of a large-scale defection of leaders and workers.
On the first day of nomination yesterday, a candidate filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate from Green Park. The process of nomination has been started at a total of 68 places, where special security arrangements have been made.
On the other hand, tickets continued to come and go in the BJP State Office, AAP Headquarters and State Congress Office. A prominent leader said that a women councillor not only stayed away from the people of the area after she won the seat but also only occasionally appeared in party programs but now she needs a ticket again.
Many party leaders and people waiting for tickets said that if ticket is not available this time, they will leave the party and contest from other party.
Referring to an incident in ward 190 New Ashok Nagar, adjacent to Noida, a senior party leader said that the councillor there was sacked on charges of corruption, now her husband is a contender. The former councillor contested the election as a rebel and lost but this time her husband is a contender. If this situation continues, people will revolt there, he said.
The similar situation is in AAP. The party meeting was going on yesterday, while the party workers were protesting openly against Prem Singh Chauhan, the Leader of the Opposition in Southern Corporation. This demonstration disturbed the office environment but somehow the situation was handled.
There is no fight in the congress as such. But it is in fear that at the last moment, the situation may change due to large-scale people coming out of the BJP and AAP indifference.
