Name RRR after Sardar Patel: urges Gudur
Hyderabad (RNI) Bharatiya Janata Party state executive committee member Gudur Narayana Reddy on Sunday urged the State and Union Governments to name the Regional Ring Road after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
In a media statement, he said, “As the Sardar has played a pivotal role in liberating Telangana from the clutches of Razakars and ensuring freedom to the people of Hyderabad State, it would be apt to name the RRR after him.”
He said that it would be a real tribute to the Iron Man of India to name the RRR after him as Hyderabad has developed in leaps and bounds in the past 76 years due to the freedom it has enjoyed with the heroic efforts of Patel. The RRR would be helpful in the all round development of Hyderabad and Telangana as well.
He said that it was not out place to recall that the Centre has issued gazette notification declaring Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 as official celebration.
He informed that the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the proposal to construct regional ring road around the suburbs of Hyderabad in 2018. It has been proposed to construct the RRR with an estimated cost of Rs 9,164 crores.
However the cost of the project has shot up by Rs 6,000 crores as the grounding of it has been inordinately delayed. The previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi government has failed to complete the land acquisition in time even though the Centre has agreed to bear 50 per cent cost of land acquisition.
Mr Reddy said that it has been proposed to execute the project in two parts –northern and southern. The northern part will pass through Sangareddy, Narsapur, Toopran, Gajwel, Pragnapur, Jagdevpur, Bhongir and Choutuppal for 158 KMs and southern part would be constructed through Choutuppal, Ibrahimpatnam, Kandukur, Amangal, Chevella, Shankarpally and Sangareddy for 182 KMs.
He alleged that the BRS government has on purpose delayed the acquisition of the land. The BRS leaders has interfered in the process and hindered it for years together.
Rampant corruption has taken place in the determination of alignment of the road land acquisition, he alleged. The leaders of BRS have collected huge sums from the local people to change alignment as per their wishes.
Out of 1,935 hectares that needed to be acquired, the BRS government could initiate the process to acquire only 1,459 acres, which is still under different stages of acquisition.
Mr Reddy urged the state government to expedite the land acquisition process and ensure that it is completed by October, this year, as Prime Minister is expected to lay the foundation stone for the construction of the road.
