Munna Babu was the one who ignited the flame of education in Koshi region

New Delhi, 25 October 2023 (RNI): It is said that a human being is a bundle of human emotions and this emotion inspires him to do such good deeds which becomes an example. Exactly the same incident happened with the famous senior litterateur late Uday Kant Pathak "Munna Babu", when he awakened the flame of education sixty years ago in the Kosi affected area which was suffering from natural tragedy and today he has millions of followers.

However, Munna Babu was born in the family of Yadu Pathak, one of the big landowners of the Kosi area, who was the owner of two thousand acres of land at the time of independence. An even bigger specialty of this family was that they were very religious and socialist. They were well-wishers of the people as they used to give open donations to the freedom fighters as well as to the weaker sections of the society. Even today people in that area call this family as the Malikaan family. Tomorrow is the third death anniversary of Munna Babu.

Munna Babu, who has been awarded many awards for distinguished service, had this quality inculcated in his family. After completing his higher education, he was selected for the jail service, but he left it and started his career as a teacher because he was afraid of being in trouble. He believed that people in the area had to be educated. At that time, among  more than a hundred villages of Koshi area falling in Darbhanga district, the only school up to class five was in Bheja village, which these days falls in Madhepur block of Madhubani district.

Being a teacher, Munna Babu, who was a regular writer of the then popular newspapers of Bihar, Aryavarta, Indian Nation and Mithila Mihir, traveled from village to village and even included cow herders in the school and educated them. Then education up to middle level started from this school. But he was not going to stop here, he established Dayaram High School on several acres of his ancestral land, which is today included among the famous government schools.

When Munna Babu, a headmaster by profession, retired from government service in the year 1997, he became the founder editor-in-chief of the then popular Hindi monthly magazine Lok Sangathan and served the society. Today this institution has taken the form of a famous agency. The news of which is It is being published and broadcast in many languages. In the technological era, this institute has become a symbol of credibility. L.S.
