New Delhi (RNI) The advocate unit of the Lok Samaj Party (LSP) staged a strong demonstration at Jantar Mantar yesterday, demanding the eradication of corruption in the judicial system and the implementation of national-level examinations for the appointment of judges.
The protest was led by the party’s prominent advocate Gauri Shankar Sharma and General Secretary Bachan Singh Karautia. Several notable figures, including former MP Budh Sen Patel, also participated in the demonstration.
The protesters raised strong slogans in support of their demands and later submitted a memorandum addressed to the President, Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Law Minister.
Speaking to journalists after the protest, Advocate Sharma alleged that corruption has deeply infiltrated the judicial system, causing widespread public anger. He cited the recovery of a significant amount of cash from the residence of a Delhi High Court judge as an example of this corruption.
Mr. Sharma further claimed that inefficient judges have led to a severe backlog of cases in the courts. He remarked that in many courts, proceedings often come to a halt after noon, with cases being repeatedly postponed, leaving people to wander in search of justice.
He warned that if urgent reforms are not implemented, the LSP would stage a protest outside the Supreme Court. L.S.
