Journalists should actively participate in Social Work: Dr. Pathak

New Delhi (RNI) Dr. Samrendra Pathak, a well-known senior journalist and Executive President of the SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF), an international organization of journalists, has said that journalists should actively participate in social work so that their public relations and social acceptance remain intact.

Dr. Pathak also stated that SJF, while working to protect the interests of journalists across South Asia, also plays a leading role in addressing matters of social concern. This, he said, gives the organization a distinct identity compared to others. He emphasized that better results can be achieved through coordination with social organizations and cited the success of the UNI movement as an example of effective collaboration.

Dr. Pathak made these remarks while speaking informally to journalists after attending an award ceremony held at the Constitution Club on Friday evening. He noted that the organization hosting the event works for the upliftment of women and that SJF members actively take part in such social initiatives.

Earlier, addressing a seminar on “Women Empowerment and Gender Equality” organized by the Amarendra Foundation, Dr. Pathak said that his organization is fully committed to supporting such social causes and will extend all possible help in this direction.

On the occasion, the “Bharat Vibhuti Samman” was conferred upon several distinguished individuals including Dr. J. S. Titliyal, senior ophthalmologist of AIIMS; Dr. Anup Kumar; educationist Mr. Amitabh Sukul; Mrs. Suman Lata Sharma; senior journalist Ms. Shobhana Jain; educationist Dr. Rajesh Kumar Singh; Dr. Shailesh Chandra Sahay; Dr. Manish Dev; and Dr. Kalpana Agarwal.

Similarly, the “Nari Shakti Vibhuti Samman” was presented to Prof. (Dr.) Lavi Shrivastava, Mrs. Pooja Agarwal, and Mrs. Pranami Devi in recognition of their significant contributions to women empowerment and social service. L.S.
