“Journalists Protection Act” necessary to protect the interests of journalists: Dr. Pathak
New Delhi, June 18, 2023, (RNI): Eminent senior journalist Dr. Samrendra Pathak said that there is a need to enact a "Journalist Protection Act" to protect the interests of journalists across the country and the Center should take immediate initiative in this matter, today.
Coordinator of Save UNI Movement Dr. Pathak was having an informal conversation with reporters at the V.P. House.He said that this has been demanded for many years, but nothing has been done so far.
Dr. Pathak, Executive President of SAARC Journalist Forum and United Indian Journalist Association, said that there is a need to speed up the movement for this.
In response to a question, Dr. Pathak said that there has been a lot of change in the field of journalism with the passage of time. Earlier there used to be newspapers and magazines. Then came TV & now there is social media.
Now when the UNI is completely liquidated, the board of the company appointed a receiver.This work would have been done 10 years ago, then there would have been hope of survival , said Dr. Pathak.
In response to another question, Dr. Pathak, who was the bearer of the journalists' agitation against PIB, said that there are still some people who are playing with the interests of journalists. L.S.
