Continental Hospital Sets World Record and Achieves a First in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with Unique Cancer Cases

HYDERABAD, DEC 19 (RNI) Continental Hospital, healthcare institution to announce the successful completion of two groundbreaking and unique cancer cases.

These achievements include a world record and a first in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. To commemorate this milestone, a success meet was organized at Continental Hospitals, IT Financial district, Hyderabad on Tuesday.

First Case: World Record - First-of-its-kind Dendritic Cell Therapy at Continental Cancer Center

Continental Cancer Center at Continental Hospitals, Gachibowli, Hyderabad has successfully performed the first-of-its-kind Dendritic Cell Therapy for a patient with Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor.

This groundbreaking case involved a young lady diagnosed with a rare and recurrent brain cancer. After an in-depth analysis, a rare gene alteration was identified as the potential cause for the aggressive recurrence.

By obtaining the consent and support of the patient and her family, Continental Cancer Center explored the possibility of a new treatment method - Dendritic Cell Therapy.

This novel approach tackles cancer cells through the immune mechanism.

Dr. AVS Suresh, Sr. Consultant for Medical Oncology & Hematology, explained that the therapy involves extracting the patient's immune cells, as well as cancer cells, and developing a vaccine in collaboration with a drug manufacturer.

The vaccine is then administered intra-dermally.

Dr. Guru N Reddy, Founder & Chairman of Continental Hospitals, commended the team at the Continental Cancer Center for their achievement.

He emphasized the hospital's commitment to comprehensive, compassionate, and individualized cancer care, highlighting the cutting-edge personalized approach to cancer treatment developed at the Continental Cancer Center.

Second Case: First Time in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh - Successful Removal of a 15 kg Tumor at Continental Cancer Center, Preserving the Women's Uterus

Continental Cancer Center at Continental Hospitals achieved another milestone by successfully removing a massive 15 kg tumor from a 30-year-old female patient.

The tumor was removed while preserving her uterus and ovaries.

The patient had felt the mass in her abdominal region three years ago but had delayed seeking treatment due to fear of societal reactions.

Dr. P Jagannath, Director of Continental Cancer Center, explained the complexity of the case, highlighting that the tumor had grown extensively, with large blood vessels and hidden the uterus.

Through the expertise of the multidisciplinary team at Continental Cancer Center, the tumor was excised, and the complex surgery was successful.

Dr. Guru N Reddy applauded the team of surgical oncologists at Continental Cancer Center for their exceptional work and their ability to undertake and successfully treat such challenging cases.
