Dr. Samrendra Pathak
Bengaluru, April 29, 2023 (RNI): Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council Mr. BK Hariprasad has claimed that the Congress will form the next government in the state with full majority, as the ruling BJP government is not for the people.
The Congress has set a target of securing 170 seats in the 224-member Legislative Assembly and is hopeful that it will be able to form the government on its own by securing more than 150 seats , Mr. Hariprasad making this claim during an interview here , yesterday.
Former Congress Rajya Sabha member Mr. Hariprasad said that in the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections, the people had given mandate to his party to form the government, but the government was toppled within a year by horse-trading of 17 MLAs and the BJP formed the government. They did the same in M.P.
Mr. Hariprasad said that common people, farmers, laborers, women and youth are upset under BJP rule in the state and people are looking for change. BJP will be wiped out in this election.
He said that during the Corona period, 34 people died in the state only due to lack of oxygen. People had to face many problems during the lockdown. This government is only based on false promises. People are no longer in a mood to forgive them.
When asked about the impact of Bharat Jodo Yatra, he said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stayed with the crowd of lakhs for 21 days during this yatra, met people. Its effect is so much that the condition of BJP in the state is bad.
On being asked about the corruption during UPA 1 and UPA 2 regime, Shri Hariprasad said that a massive propaganda was done against us. They managed to create atmosphere among the people by spreading lies, but BJP did not register even a single case during its 9 years of rule. They could not get anyone punished. Their lies were exposed.
When asked about the disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from the membership of Parliament, Mr. Hariprasad said that this is not a new thing. Same thing happened with Mrs. Indira Gandhi, but she returned to the country in no time. She had become the Prime Minister. This time also the same will happen.
The Congress leader said that when Rahul Gandhi tried to raise his voice in the Parliament in the interest of the country, his mike was switched off. Later he was disqualified from the membership of the Parliament by resorting to the court. This is a direct attack on democracy. LS.
