BJP’s Gudur laments Gachibowli TIMS a dead duck

Hyderabad, April 22: Bharatiya Janata Party state senior leader Gudur Narayana Reddy on Saturday stated that establishment of Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences hospitals in Hyderabad was all talk and no action as the first TIMS hospital at Gachibowli turns out to be a dead duck.
In a media statement he has reminded that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has laid foundation stone for the construction of three TIMS hospitals in Hyderabad, LB Nagar, Erragadda and Alwal, nearly one year ago, on April 27, 2022.
“But unfortunately he has forgotten maintenance of the first TIMS, at Gachibowli, which was established in 2020, with much pomp and show, during the first wave of Covid-19 Pandemic in the country,” he said.
The Chief Minister, his son and Industries minister KT Rama Rao, have launched the TIMS hospital at Gachibowli stadium at that time with lot of fanfare. They have stated that the hospital would be developed on par with All India Institute of Medical Sciences and would be a boon to the poor patients.
However, the Chief Minister, the minister have conveniently forgotten the hospital and the government announced construction of new TIMS hospitals in Hyderabad.
He said that state government has allocated Rs 2600 crores for the construction of three TIMS hospitals in Hyderabad. But so far there was no progress in their econstruction.
The BJP leader said that it has become a habit to the BRS government to make tall promises and forget them as soon as their purpose was served. He said that during the first wave of Covid the government announced that the Gachibowli TIMS would exclusively treat Covid patients.
He said that about 495 doctor posts have been sanctioned and 1500 beds were made available. Nurses have been hired on contract basis. As soon as the pandemic has subsided the government forgot the maintenance and development of the hospital. The nurses hired, on contract, were removed. The recruitment of doctors was not taken up.
“Now the hospital is in shambles. It has restrained itself to treat the out patients only. There is no single in-patient in that hospital. Crores of rupees which have been spent on this hospital have gone waste,” Narayana Reddy lamented.
He said that the Gachibowli hospital has been given a step motherly treatment, even though it was started prestigiously. As the Chief Minister lack vision, government has failed to develop it into a full-fledged hospital and considers it as a make shift one.
In fact the Gachibowli TIMS hospital has been considered the first major initiative in medical sector of the state after formation of Telangana State. “Now it has become a dead duck,” Narayana Reddy said.
He said people have expected a lot from Health Minister T Harish Rao, who is considered to be a dynamic leader. However, he was not able to deliver as the state suffers sever funds crunch. It seems that the dynamic minister was not allowed to perform as per best of his abilities.
Narayana Reddy said that Gachibowli TIMS was a well located one and has good connectivity. He said that it could be turned into a super specialty hospital than treated as a make shift one as lot of infrastructure was available.
He said the Gachibowli TIMS could be turned into an All India Institute of Medical Sciences like health care institution if the government takes a serious view of it.
