BJP’s Gudur demands: Shift RRR alignment 22 KMs away from Hyderabad ORR
Hyderabad, April 16: Bharatiya Janata Party state senior leader Gudur Narayana Reddy on Sunday demanded the state government to shift the Regional Ring Road 22 KMs away, beyond East and North side of Yadagirigutta, from the current position to protect the livelihoods of hundreds of micro and small farmers.
Narayana Reddy has toured Raigiri, Erramballi, Proddutur, Mandapur and Varkatpalli villages on Sunday and interacted with the farmers whose lands have been identified for the acquisition for construction of Regional Ring Road. Farmers of these villages are on agitation path for the past few months opposing acquisition of lands for RRR.
Later issuing a media statement he stated that present alignment of RRR would cause dislocation of farmers on a large scale and would make their lives miserable. They would be left with no choice than ending their lives, he said.
“Present alignment of RRR, 20 KMs away from Hyderabad Outer Ring Road, would be a death knell to farmers of Raigiri, Erramballi, Proddutur, Mandapur and Varkatpalli. Development at the cost of lives of hundreds of farmers and their families is not desirable,” the BJP leader said.
He said that construction of RRR in Raigiri and other villages would be a one-two punch for the farmers of these areas as they have already ceded their lands to construction of canals for Baswapur Reservoir, high tension lines, and by pass road for NH 163. Already the government has procured land for three projects and now procurement has been taken up for the fourth time in the form of Regional Ring Road.
He said that most of the farmers living in this area own half or one acre of land and it was their only livelihood. He said that the compensation to be given for the acquisition of land would be a pittance.
“The financial compensation to be given by the state government would not help the farmers even to buy 100 SQ Yards of land. It would not even help to fund the education of a son or for the marriage of a daughter,” he lamented.
Narayana Reddy informed that many farmers depend on dairies and with acquisition of land would completely vanish the dairy industry from here. He said that RRR would virtually kill the families of the farmers on a large scale.
He said that if the RRR is constructed in the route of Choutuppal, Motakondur and Alair, 42 KMs away from Hyderabad Outer Ring Road, it would serve the purpose.
He said that Bhuvanagiri MLA Pailla Sekhar Reddy has played a key role in the fixing of the changed current alignment of RRR. He said that the MLA has ensured that his, his relatives, BRS party leaders and his followers’ lands would not be affected due to the passing of RRR.
The BJP leader said that the BRS MLA has put the lives of the farmers on the chopping block to save his interests. Even the state government has approved the current alignment to protect the lands of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao located in Gajwel area.
He alleged that the BRS leaders have connived with the Revenue officials and changed the alignment of RRR. He said that the junction of the road proposed at Raigiri could be shifted to Alair.
He said that RRR has been sanctioned by the Centre and it would bear the cost of construction. The state government was supposed to acquire the land and handover it to the Centre.
“The leaders of the ruling party in the state have taken the advantage of authority to acquire the land and changed the alignment. When RRR has been proposed, it has been envisaged that it should pass through Choutuppal, Motakondur and Rajapet areas of Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district. But the BRS leaders pulled the strings in the upper echelons in the state and changed the alignment for their advantage,” he explained.
He said that premier properties and valuable wet lands would be taken away from the farmers for construction of RRR which was quite atrocious.
