BHOJPUR POLICE ARREST TWO AND SENT JAIL FOR MURDER

Ara, 5 December 2022, (RNI): Bhojpur police arrested two persons including a liner in connection with murder of former Chairperson Shahpur Nagar Panchayat, Bashishth Prasad alias Mantoo Sonar and sent them to jail after interrogation. The arrested persons were identified as Ved Prakash Yadav, an employee of the hotel and a liner Shamshad Sah alias Sonu Sah of Shahpur Ward No 2.

SHO Shahpur police station Nityanand Sharma said that some miscreants had shot dead the chairperson Shahpur Nagar Panchayat, Bashishth Prasad alias Mantoo Sonar on November 27, 2022 when he was sitting in a hotel beside his house at Shahpur Bazaar under Shahpur police station and escaped from the scene. A named FIR was lodged with the police under Shahpur police station against 13 persons including three languishing inside the Ara jail. Earlier the police arrested two lady accused in this regard. Later the police following CCTV footage and Tower Dump, arrested the Liner Shamshad Sah alias Sonu Sah of Shahpur Ward No 2 under Shahpur police station and on his revelation arrested an employee of the hotel at NH-84 Ved Prakash Yadav. The SHO further said that Ved Prakash Yadav had given Rs. 10,000 to Shamshad Sah for keeping eye on Bashishth Prasad alias Mantoo Sonar and informing his activities. After getting final information from the Liner, the miscreants shot dead Bashishth Prasad alias Mantoo Sonar.

It may be mentioned here that names of inmates of Ara jail, Dhanuk and Deepak Dhanuka figured in the murder of Bashishth Prasad. They were employees of Riddhi-Siddhi Line Hotel. The police had arrested them from their house at Shahpu Ward No 10 with 200 gram of heroin and sent them to jail on August 15, 2021 and since they are languishing in the jail. After their names figured in the murder, the Ara jail administration shifted at them besides 17 others to Bhagalpur Central Jail.
