ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT, JAILER, ARA JAIL SUSPENDED
Bhojpur DM Raj Kumar and the SP Sanjay Kumar Singh along with heavy police force conducted raids at the Ara jail in the evening on December 3, 2022 and recovered 35 mobiles and three chargers. These mobiles and chargers were kept about six feet deep in the earth.
Ara, 4 December 2022, (RNI): Bhojpur DM Raj Kumar and the SP Sanjay Kumar Singh along with heavy police force conducted raids at the Ara jail in the evening on December 3, 2022 and recovered 35 mobiles and three chargers. These mobiles and chargers were kept about six feet deep in the earth.
The DM and the SP, under the ‘Operation Clean’ conducted raids four times in the Ara jail from November 28 to December 3, 2022 and recovered 43 mobiles, four SIMs, one scissors, Rs. 15000 in cash and other objectionable items. Later the jail Superintendent Sandeep Kumar suspended six persons including the Jail Assitant Superintendent, Gautamn Kumar, Jailer Sarwan Imam Khan and wardens and recommended transfer of some wardens. Bhojpur DM also recommended action to the head office against the guilty employees and officials of the Ara jail.
The jail inmates hid mobiles and chargers by digging earth about six feet but the jail administration was unaware of it. It is said as to how the inmates dug six feet without connivance of the officials of the jail.
Sandeep Kumar said that he got information that some wardens of Ara jail have formed a group and they supply mobiles to the inmates from outside and a report in this regard has been sent to the Jail headquarter with recommendation of transfer of some wardens. Besides, some suspected wardens are on radar. Connection of inmates of Ara jail in the murder of Mantoo Sonar former Chairperson of Shahpur Nagar Panchayat and information of running of gang in Bhojpur district from inside the jail came to light, Bhojpur district administration is on high alert and ‘Operation Clean’ was launched inside the Ara jail at the direction of Bhojpur DM and at least 35 mobiles and three chargers were recovered kept at least six feet deep in the earth from beside the Ward No 1 to Ward No 14 near bathrooms.
