Agriculture Minister launches "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign
New Delhi (RNI) Union Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan launched the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign and planted saplings at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute campus in Pusa here, today.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture Ram Nath Thakur and Director General of the Institute Dr. Himanshu Pathak, besides hundreds of officers, employees and school students of the ministry were present on the occasion.
Mr. Chauhan said that the ministry will establish "Matri Van" in about one acre of land. He informed that all the subordinate offices of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW), ICAR Institutes, CAU, KVK and SAU across the country have also organized similar tree plantation programs at their respective places.
The Union Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the global campaign "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5 this year. L.S.
