SASARAM---------------------------Drugs and drug peddlers have spread their tentacles in several areas in Rohtas district in which the young generation is easily getting trapped. The young generation is on the verge of ruin due to the interest of the growing youth population towards drugs. The situation is such alarming that everyone from labour class to students from rich families are also in its grip and the addiction is licking the future of the youth like termites. Earlier the young generation in the urban areas was in its grip but gradually its prevalence in the rural areas is increasing so much and if the district administration does not curb this in time, the graph of crime can increase a lot because drug addicts can also commit theft, snatching and its glaring example came to light at Dinara last week where a heroin addicted young man slit his own son’s throat. The truth is that today a network of drug trade of smoking, heroin, Ganja and intoxicating capsules has spread in the city and youths can be easily located consuming drugs without fear at Kurur, behind the Chiksil Stand, Nasariganj Road, at the bank of canal and Kav river, on the campus of Biscoman. Heroin packets are easily available and the addicts know the drug sellers who sell the heroin and other intoxicants in packets.
It is believed that after the ban on liquor, the young generation in Bikramganj City and other parts of Rohtas district has started consuming heroin, ganja, churut and other drugs. It is worth mentioning here that earlier intoxication used to happen here at Natwar Market but now drug addicts who take injections and heroin have reduced and now Bikramganj has become the hub while liquor sales are also not reduced in the city.
While the district administration failed to ban drugs in the district, the youths are openly using drugs even during day hours, not to speak of darkness and they can be seen somewhere with heroin, ganja, cigarettes and smelling chemicals. The youth who have become addicted to drugs, somehow manage to raise money for their drugs. For this, they do whatever they have to do. Steal whatever they have to and do whatever wrong they have to do. First of all the drug peddlers give drug to new incumbent free of cost and when they become addict, the drug peddlers charge for the drugs. The drug lords who sell heroin keep the youth with them and give drugs to them to sell roaming around. Addicted persons recognize the drug lords.
Although in the name of patrolling, the police patrol the chowks or the city but there is a big deal of heroin adjacent to the police station and one can witness if roam around in the Biscoman complex. Drug addicts gather at Nasariganj road at some distance from Tenduni Chowk. They have occupied the shed made for passengers and behind it and they can be seen taking drugs sitting in dirty places around it. Drug sellers also move around them to defend their customers. The drug peddlers pack heroin in small packets and sell them. The main kingpin is someone else. It may be said here that police had arrested drug peddlers under Bikramganj police station in the past but surprisingly what kind of intelligence system of such police administration that they do not even get a clue about these drug peddlers and drug addicts. What should it mean? One can easily understand.
DSP Shashi Bhushan Singh said that the police are constantly trying and will soon get a great success in this regard.
