Due to the boycott of Chinese goods, lakhs of earthen lamps are expected to be sold and the potters are very much enthusiastic and they are engaged in making earthen lamps in large numbers. Both men and women are burning mid light lamps so that earthen lamps can be supplied as per the demand.
ARA, (RNI) Inclination towards traditional earthen lamps has increased a lot this time in Dipawali as compare to before. Due to the boycott of Chinese goods, lakhs of earthen lamps are expected to be sold and the potters are very much enthusiastic and they are engaged in making earthen lamps in large numbers. Both men and women are burning mid light lamps so that earthen lamps can be supplied as per the demand.
It this being said that there is a possibility of sale of more than eight lakh earthen lamps in Bhojpur district. The number of villages in Bhojpur district is 1244 while the number of urban areas is around 10 and the number of chatti Bazaars is more than 40. Mostly earthen lamps are likely to be used in Dipawali everywhere.
Professors of Chemistry said that mustard oil contains elements which react with the chemicals in the environment and are helpful in killing the toxic elements present in it, germs, insects etc. There can be a scientific reason behind celebrating Dipawali. Chemistry also confirms that lighting a lamp purifies the air, increased humidity in the atmosphere. Weather is cold during Dipawali and hence the air becomes stuffy. By lighting the lamp, the air becomes light and clean.
It may be said that during Dipawali this year, several activities are already being seen in different markets of Bhojpur district. After cleaning the houses, people come to the markets to buy goods. They are planning and booking goods in advance for delivery on Dhanteras.
Pandit Dharmendra Mishra said that as per astrology, there is a special reason behind the lighting the earthen lamps and it means that that the planet Mars is considered to be factor of soil and land while the planet Saturn is related to the mustard oil. In this way, with the lighting of earthen lamps with mustard oil, the planets Mars and Saturn become favourable and shower their blessings in form of abundant wealth, happiness, prosperity, happy life and also remove mental and physical problems and stress and infused fresh energy in life and positive energy is also transmitted in the environment.
Earthen lamps represent the five elements. The five elements include water, air, fire, sky and land. All these things are present in the earthen lamp. Lighting earthen lamps with cow’s ghee keeps the environment germ-free and pure. Doctors say that by keeping the environment clean, our immune system also remains better and the person remains healthy.
By using earthen lamps, not only the potters who are engaged in the business are benefitted but also the people making cotton wicks, oil spillers who spill oil from different types of crops such as mustard, til, redi for lighting the earthen lamps are also benefitted.
Dipawali comes after the rainy season. During this season, insects, fungi etc. are nourished. Insects multiplied, however cleaning the houses on Dipawali reduces the risks of insects. Lighting ghee or oil lamps purifies the environment. People get employment by using earthen lamps.
Potters Binod Kumar, Lal Babu Prasad, Bhikhari Prasad, Arun Kumar said that the structure of the society was done very intelligently. Everyone got employment in it. By lighting foreign lights, the employment of a section of society of one’s own country is taken away, the money also goes abroad, however now people have become aware and there is now hope for better business this time.
They said that the society should think in this direction and added use of foreign lamps is useless whereas lighting earthen lamps provides employment to a section of people and even insects die by lighting lamps.
They added that after the arrival of foreign rulers, the structure and condition of the society got distorted, otherwise from the economic point of view, it was quite well constructed so that no one remain unemployed. In between, people used Chinese lights instead of earthen lamps but for the last two-three years, earthen lamps are being sold in abundance.
They further stated that earlier they used to get paddy, rice or wheat and not money. The elders say that this maintained intimacy in the society. They did not have to go out in search of work but the youth kept distance from earthen lamps and this business started decreasing. Due to which now it started causing problems though the situation is improving slowly and steadily.
Prof. Baliraj Thakur and Dr. Arvind Kumar said that earlier they used to five grains for earthen utensils and the circulation of money was very less. This used to maintain cordial relations. They stated that even before Dipawali, they started preparing for it. Now everyone sits together and meets. Traditional methods and things were quite good but they had started to fade away but now slowly traditional things are coming back to the fore and people are becoming aware of earthen lamps.
