WARD COUNCILORS DEMONSTRATED IN FRONT OF THE OFFICE OF THE MUNICIPAL COMMISSIONER, AMC IN PROTEST AGAINST MISBEHAVING WITH A LADY WARD COUNCILOR

ARA (RNI) After the Municipal Commissioner, Ara Municipal Corporation Niroj Kumar Bhagat misbehaved with the Municipal Councilor Ward No 22 Rekha Jail and asked her to go out of his chamber, all the Municipal Councilors opened front against the Municipal Commissioner and demonstrated in front of his office

Ward councilors created ruckus over the Municipal Commissioner Niroj Kumar Bhagar not doing any kind of development work. The councilors said that the Municipal Commissioner gets the work done only when it is beneficial for him. Even after many schemes are passed in the meeting of the Board, he do not get the work done. E-rickshaws were purchased by they had to be returned as the deal was not struck as per the wishes of the Municipal Commissioner.

In the past, a big scam was done by the Municipal Commissioner in the purchase of CCTV. It has come to light that the Municipal Commissioner has committed a scam of about Rs. 1.60 crore in the purchase of CCTV cameras. Gayatri Devi, Ward Councilor, Ward No. 4 said that CCTV cameras are installed in Ara which is of very poor quality and the payment for which is around 4 crore. She said that the cost of one camera is around Rs. 1.76 lakh. Mayor. AMC, Indu Devi wrote to the Chief Minister, Bihar, Principal Secretary, and even the Vigilance regarding the scam committed by the Municipal Commissioner but no action has so far been taken in this regard. The Ward Councilors said no planning word and other works are not being done in the AMC and the contractors had staged dharna earlier. Mayor, Indu Devi said that corruption will not be allowed in the AMC. She added that many complaints were received against the Municipal Commissioner and so the ward councilors had a talk with the Municipal Commissioner in his chamber.

Ward Councilor, Ward No 40 Rajeev Kumar said that he also drew attention of the Municipal Commissioner that work is not being done in his ward and questioned as to why is it no happening when the estimate was prepared. At this, the Municipal Commissioner had assured that with 10 days after the Model Code of Conduct is over, the tender will be published and work will be done but nothing took place and the Municipal Commissioner abruptly said that no tender would be published. He stated if the work is not done, they would launch an aggressive agitation against the Municipal Commissioner.

Ward Councilor, Ward No 33,Munna Mahato said that that Rekha Jain had gone to the chamber of the Municipal Commissioner Niroj Kumar Bhagat but he misbehaved with her and also shooed her out of the chamber and so all the councilors got angry and demonstrated in front of his chamber against his rude behavior and large scale embezzlement of fund by him. He said even after two months of end of the Model Code of Conduct, not a single scheme was passed. The Municipal Commissioner has money for the departmental work but he has not money for the publication of tender.

Ward Councilor, Dr. Jitendra Kumar said that whenever they go to the Municipal Commissioner for any important work, he played at it on one excuse or another as a result they have to face the wrath of people. He added that the Municipal Commissioner is interested only in construction of tar and stated that in the last meeting no plan was given to construct tar road from Judge Kothi Mor to Bajaj Showroom but the Municipal Commissioner manipulated and added to the proceedings of the empowered standing committee for which they are protesting. He further said that on the request of the ward councilors, a scheme of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000 was not made but with the intention of looting of the fund of Rs. 1.5 crore, the Municipal Commissioner manipulated the proceedings.
