WAR MEMORIAL IS TO BE BUILT ON THE CAMPUS OF ARA COLLECTORATE

A War Memorial is to be constructed on the campus of Ara Collectorate and a list of 22 martyrs of freedom movement has been prepared which will have to be exhibited and inscribed on the War Memorial.

Ara, 27 May 2023, (RNI): A War Memorial is to be constructed on the campus of Ara Collectorate and a list of 22 martyrs of freedom movement has been prepared which will have to be exhibited and inscribed on the War Memorial. 

At the call of father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, numberless men and women came out of the threshold of their houses and participated in freedom struggle of their motherland on August 10, 1942 that is called August Revolution. The British resorted to suppress the movement at any cost and countless persons were lost their lives including 22 including Kavi Kailash of Bhojpur district. Kavi Kailash along with his associates unfurled the tri-colour national flag at the Ara Collectorate and lost his life under the suppressive measure of the English. And to remember and pay homage to these martyrs, Bhojpur district administration is constructing the War Memorial on the campus of Ara Collectorate.

Bhojpur District Magistrate, Raj Kumar said that the Ara-Buxar MLC, Radha Charan Sah alias Seth Jee had demanded the Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar during his just concluded ‘Samadhan Yatra’ a War Memorial at Ara in the memory of martyrs of freedom movement of 1942. He said that the government conceded his demand and ordered construction of War Memorial on the campus of Ara Collectorate on the lines of War Memorial of New York.

The DM said that names of 22 martyrs which are to be inscribed on the War Memorial are Kavi Kailash of Dhodadei, Bhola,Krit Yadav of Zamira village in Ara block, Akali Devi, Vasudeo Singh, Sabhapati Singh, Mahadev Yadav, Girvar Singh Yadav, Jannath Singh, of Lasadhi village in Agiaw block, Ramanuj Pandey, Rajdeo Sah, Keshav Singh, Sheetal Lohar Chasi village in Agiaw block, sheetal Prasad Singh, Kesho Prasad Singh of Dhakani village in Agiaw block, Kapildeo Ram, Amit Ali of Koelwar village in Koelwar block, Ful Kumari Devi, Ram Awatar Singh of Haradiya village in Jagdishpur block, Mahadeo Prasad, Munni Halwai of Bihia in Bihia block and Fekanbari of Itmihan village in Piro block in Bhojpur district. These martyrs fell to the bullets of the English while unfurling national flag at the Ara Collectorate in the year 1942 during ‘Quit India Movement.’ The DM stated that if name of any martyrs is left in the list, the family members may contact the DM and give the name and names of the martyrs and their names will also be inscribed.
