VIRAL INFECTION OF EYES IS SPREADING RAPIDLY

Ara, 23 July 2023, (RNI): Viral infection of eye is spreading at great pace in Bhojpur district and people of every age group especially children are becoming its victims. Eyes infected with viral infection become red, people feel swelling and stinging and sometimes itchy accompanied with pain.  

There are a number of families where people are affected with infection. Ophthalmologists of Ara said that there can be many reasons for the redness in eyes. Sometimes this problem in the eyes can be due to our everyday habits or viral infection. But the redness of the eyes is very uncomfortable and painful. Eye redness can usually be a sign of come type of allergy or infection. The Ophthalmologists explained that conjunctivitis is usually a viral infection that quickly spread from one eye to another and if there is such redness in the eyes, caution should be taken. They advised not to touch the eyes with hands, not to splash water in the eyes, not to rub as rubbing reduces eyesight. Such infections usually get cured in a week to 10 days and if the problem persists, one can consult a doctor if needed.

The doctors said that this time the children are prone to viral infection. 10 to 15 such patients come to the clinic every day. They added that steroid eye drops are advisable along with antibiotics in such infected eyes and even anti-viral gel should be applied when the disease is severe that is if there is excessive redness and stinging or burning sensation in the eyes. They further advised to use sun glasses in case of infection so that eyes can be protected from sun and dust or smoke and added to avoid use the cloths and spectacles of others.
