ARA-----------------------Valentine Day, a symbol of love and romance was celebrated with much hype and hoopla here on February 14 amidst elaborate police arrangements to avoid any untoward incident.  Lovebirds made promises and showered loves and affections on their loved ones with gifts and other manner.

From morning, Veer Kuer Singh Park, different hotels and restaurant and also at Ramana Maidan and Park buzzed with the activities of the thousands of love birds where they were seen to exchange their love and gifts with one another. A number of spots in rural areas in Bhojpur district do not lag behind as thousands of love birds were seen promising and showering loves and affections on their loved ones with gifts and other manners though some obscene scenes were also witnessed in some restaurants and Part where some young girls and boys were seen in compromising position. Incessant rain did not deter their spirit.

Valentine's Day is incomplete without the exchange of gifts as a token of love. But finding the perfect gift is a Herculean task. With the advent of technology, there are many mediums to convey your love, said Kashish and her lover, Shashi, a college going couple.

One teacher, Mahavir Bhakt said that V-day was celebrated in the memory of Saint Valentine who was hanged by the monarch of Rome, Klodiua II, on February 14, 269 merely for getting his lovebird tied nuptial knots secretly despite a ban by the monarch. One Rani said that love was mortal and it could not be expressed, only felt and each and everyone made enemies one’s friend through love.

Marketers offered romantic gifts ranging from plain old flowers and teddy bears to sassy ones at a discount to make the most of the Valentine's Day market peg

Florists near Gopali Chowk, reportedly sold a stick at a rate of Rs 100 in wake of the surge in demand. They won the hearts by selling heart shaped rose bouquets. Florists say that most people prefer single roses to express their heart. "On V-Day, a single rose was sold for about Rs 30-40.

Gift shop owners said greeting cards have been the maximum in demand. Quotation showpieces and teddy bears are also sought by many. Cards showing kisses and hugs, chocolates, soft toys, especially the heart shaped ones are the biggest sellers.

Even hotels and restaurants have decorated their establishments with heart-shaped balloons and candlelight to woo the lovebirds to celebrate the day of love. Hotels, restaurants were overcrowded with love couples having dinners and sharing their love freely there.

On the other hand, the self-styled custodians of Indian culture were out to play their annual role of spoilsports. They also burnt the effigy of St. Valentine to express their anger against the day.
