TWO PERSONS KILLED, OVER HALF A DOZEN INJURED

Bhabhua, 12 April 2023, (RNI): At least two persons were crushed to death while about half a dozen injured when an overloaded truck with paddy knocked down them at Chandani Chowk area under Mohania police station in Kaimur district. The driver escaped from the scene leaving the truck behind. The police recovered the bodies and brought them to the Bhabhua Sadar Hospital for postmortem and admitted the injured there. The doctor referred three of them to Varanasi in precarious condititon.

SHO Mohania police station Lalan Kumar said that a truck overloaded with paddy came from Ramgarh road and knocked down several persons and several vehicles on way in which two persons were killed and over half a dozen were injured. He said that the brake of the truck became inoperative and so the incident took place.

A villager Tulasi Gupta said that entry of trucks, buses and other big vehicles were banned in the crowded Chandani Chowk area during day hour but the due to dereliction of duty on part of police personnel, heavy vehicles entered. He further said that an overloaded truck at a great speed came from Ramgarh road and entered the crowded Chandani Chowk area. As it moved towards Chandani Chowk from Over Bridge, it knocked down several persons including motorcycles, three wheelers, rickshaws and pedestrians in which one person was killed and the truck moved towards Bhabhua road. The truck also crushed to death another person after crossing Mundeshwari Gate.
