ARA----------------------------Two persons were killed while one injured in an exchange of fire in between two groups of Sand mafias at Kamaluchak Sand Ghat under Koelwar police station in war of attrition in the night on April 1, 2024. Police recovered the bodies and brought them to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem and admitted the injured but the doctor referred the injured to the Patna Medical College and Hospital in precarious condition. An FIR has been lodged with the police under Koelwar police station in this regard and the police are investigating the matter. Fear psychosis prevails in and around the area following the incident. Bhojpur SP Neeraj Kumar Singh, SDPO Ranjeet Kumar Singh, SHO Koelwar police station Narottam Chandra along with heavy police force rushed to spot and took first stock of the situation. The deceased were identified as Vikas Mahato 20 son of Hungi Mahato of Chakia village under Doriganj police station in Saran district and Sudarshan Rai 40 son of Tulasi Rai of the same area while the injured was identified as Purnwasi Mahato 40 son of late Razak Mahato of Chakia village.
Tulasi Rai father of a deceased Sudarshan Rai said that his son had gone to the Kamaluchak Sand ghat at about 8pm from his house and as he reached there, firing started and he received four bullets and he died on spot. People present on spot informed his family member about the incident. The injured Purnwasi Mahato said that he was guarding the vegetable field at the outskirt of Jamalpur village under Koelwar police station in the night and two groups were engaged in exchange of firing at some distance. He tried to escape from the scene but meanwhile he also received two bullets and was injured.
It may be said that Assistant Manager, Manipuram Bank and resident of Belbharia village under Chowk police station Maharajganj district, Uttar Pradesh and Sand ghat clerk Sanjeet Kumar, resident of Naubatpur village under the same police station in Patna district were killed in an exchange of firing in between two groups of sand mafias at Kamaluchak Sand Ghat on January 22, 2022 evening.
