TWO PERSONS DIED DURING TREATMENT

Ara, 25 May 2023, (RNI): One pregnant woman died during treatment at a private clinic ‘Shivalaya Health Care’ at Mahavir Tola under Ara Nawada police station. The deceased was identified as Rajani Kumari 23 wife of Upendra Chaudhary of Sedahan village under Tarari police station in Bhojpur district. After the death of the woman, the family members became agitated and went on rampage. They entered the clinic and damaged properties. The doctor and staffs escaped from the scene. An FIR was lodged with the police under Nawada police station in this regard and the police are investigating the matter.

Rajani Kumar of Sedahan village under Rajani Kumari was a four month pregnant and a middleman brought her to a private clinic at Mahavir Tola after she complained some complication where she died during treatment.

In another incident, one youth died at a private clinic at Club Road under Nawada police station during treatment. The deceased was identified as Dhananjay Kumar of Barauda village of Agiaw block in Bhojpur district. After his death, family members and acquaintances fared up and went on rampage. They entered the clinic and damaged properties and also thrashed the paramedical staffs of the clinic. The doctor and all the staffs escaped from the scene. An FIR has been lodged with the police under Nawada police station against the doctor and other staffs in this regard on the statement of Chhto Singh, brother of the deceased. He blamed that the doctor after the death of his brother got signature of a minor boy of the family and referred him to Patna. The doctor also instituted an FIR with the police under Nawada police station in connection with destruction, thrashing of employees and also threat with dire consequences. Police are investigating the matter. Later the police recovered the body and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem.  A medical board of three doctors performed the postmortem of the deceased.

Quoting the FIR, SHO Nawada police station Dharmendra Kumar said that Dhananjay Singh alias Mukesh Singh of Barauda village of Agiaw block in Bhojpur district had fallen from the roof of his house in the village and had broken his leg. He was admitted to the private clinic ‘Sree Vardhan Ortho Nursing Centre’ of an orthopedic surgeon Dr Kanhaiya Singh at Club Road near Ara Block Office under Nawada police station where he died during treatment.

The members of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Ara branch, such as Dr Kumar Jitndra, district president of the IMA, Dr B. K Shukla,  Dr Ashutosh Kumar Singh, Dr Naresh Prasad, Dr Arun, Dr Rajeev Ranjan, Dr. Amit Jaiswal, Dr Bikas Singh, Dr Naveen Kumar, Dr Suniti Prasad Sinha and others reached the clinic of Dr. Kanhaiya Singh and vehemently condemned attack on doctor and demanded security to all the doctors. They said that if such incident re-occurred, they would be compelled to launch agitation.

On the other hand, Badahara MLA, Raghwendra Pratap Singh called the Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav and said to take action against the doctor. He stated that some doctors are involved on in realizing money from the patients and they often performed operation in drunken stage.

Dr Kanhaiya Singh said that the family members of the deceased were his acquaintance and they had brought the patient in critical condition. He advised operation and they compelled him to do operation. The doctor further said that all was alright during three hour operation but later the condition of patient deteriorated and he referred him to Patna. He was live when the ambulance came. Meanwhile, someone played foul game and instigated the family members that the patient died about two hours ago.
