Thousands of men, women, youths and children had come to the Belvania Bazaar under Bihia police station in the late night on October 12, 2024 to have a glimpse of Maa Durga and her prodigies. Meanwhile, some youths forcibly took sweetmeats from a sweet shop without payment and when the shopkeeper demanded money, they thrashed him. They also dragged a boy working in the shop out and thrashed him badly and injured him. The people intervened and the matter was hushed up at that time.
Again at about midday today, dozens of Hooligans once again came and started thrashing the shopkeeper and his employees. The local came to his rescue but they had to face the wrath of the hooligans and both the groups embroiled into brick batting in which over a dozen persons were injured. The hooligans also ransacked dozens of shops at the Bazaar. Brick batting is still going on and the entire area turned into a battle ground though police have cordoned off the area and police force is camping there to maintain law and order in the area. Though, the police somehow controlled the situation. Jagdishpur SDPO Rajiv Chandra Singh interfered and had a dialogue with the people to both the groups and pacified the matter.
