TRUCK DRIVER FELL FROM THE BRIDGE, DIED

Ara, 27 June 2023, (RNI): One truck driver jumped off the Koelwar police at Koelwar under the same police station in Bhojpur district. In protest hundreds of truck drivers and their family members blocked the Ara-Patna main road and blamed that the police personnel threw him into the bridge. Police remain mute spectators and the blockade continues till the filing of this report. As a report traffic came to a complete standstill and the commuters particularly women and children are harried lot. Police are investigating the matter.

The officials of the Bhojpur district police and sleuths of Mines Department along with heavy police force conducted raid at Sone Sand Ghat at Koelwar on the information that trucks overloaded with sand illegally were being carried. Seeing the police force, the drivers fled and in the meantime, one truck driver jumped off the Koelwar bridge but other truck drivers blamed that the driver was trying to escape but the police and the employees of the mines department pushed him of the bridge. In protest all the truck drivers blocked the road and paralyzed the traffic. Local residents went to the bank of the river and after much effort, the police succeeded in finding the body of the driver from the river Sone on Tuesday and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem. The deceased was identified as Pintu Yadav 32 son of Yamuna Yadav of Nagahar Tola under Bikram police station in Patna district.

Pintu Yadav was going to Madhubani with a truck load of san at about 10pm on June 26, 2023 when a team of mines department reached there for checking and tried to stop the truck. Seeing them, Pintu Yadav left the truck and tried to escape by climbing over a divider and when the police tried to nab him, he fell from the bridge and drowned in the Sone river.
