ARA (RNI) Antyodaya Chetana Mandal, under the guidance of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and technical support of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhojpur, organized a training programme on the importance of organic fertilizers in food production in Kulharia village.

Dr. Praveen Kumar Dwiwedi, senior scientist and Principal, focusing especially on organic production, said that by using wormi compost, microraja, etc. in the soil, essential nutrients should be given to the plants for higher production. While emphasizing on the production of wormi comost, he said that if one continuously use wormi compost in the field, the eggs, larvae, cocoons of earthworms all go to the field and produce compost which improves the health and fertility of the land.

District Development Manager, NABARD,m Ranjit Kumar Sinha said that 50 farmers of this area are being selected and encouraged to cultivate grains like millet through scientific method. Seeds were distributed to the farmers during the training. NABARD’s vision is to develop this village as a millet hub so that it can be marketed as a value added product.

Shashi Bhushan Kumar Shashi, senior scientist of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhojpur while explaining about Neem products, firearms, Brahmastra and other bio-pesticides for diseases and insect control also told as to how to increase the fertility of the land.

Secretary, Antyodaya Chetna Mandal, Ram Nath Thakur said that this scheme is being run by him by selecting some enlightened farmers. Bajra is cultivated here on a large scale but its processing is a basic problem. In the near future other work will be done with the help of NABARD for processing and value addition.

A total of 46 farmers participated in the said occasion. Bhola Singh, Arun Singh, Anil Singh, Bachcha Lal Ram, Ravish Ranjan Chaudhary, Mahavir Dutt Pathak, Ramendra Singh, Akhileshwar Prasad and others were present on the occasion.
