ARA-------------------------Three persons including two girls were killed and one person injured when a speeding truck dashed their motorcycle near Harigao Bazaar under Jagdishpur police station on Ara-Mohania National Highway in the late evening on December 30, 2023. The police seized the truck while the driver escaped from the scene. The deceased were identified as Manish Sharma 22 son of Bhrigu Nath Sharma, Anchal Kumari 12 daughter of Sahendra Sharma of Isadhi village under Jagdishpur police station and Priya Sharma 8 daughter of Praveen Sharma of Nawadih village under Shahpur police station while the injured was identified as Vakil Sharma. The police recovered the body and brought them to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem and admitted the injured there but the doctor referred them to the Patna Medical College and Hospital in precarious condition.

Vakil Sharma was undergoing treatment at Ara and all the four persons were returning to Isadhi village from Ara after the treatment on a motorcycle and when they reached near Harigaon Bazaar, a speeding truck loaded with paddy from Ara dashed the motorcycle on Ara-Mohania National Highway under Jagdishpur police station killing three persons, Manish Sharma, Priya Sharma and Anchal Sharma on spot and injuring Vakil Sharma. The driver tried to escape with the truck but the police chased and seized the truck near Dulaur village though the driver somehow escaped from the scene.

After the incident, the villagers became agitated and they went on rampage. They set ablaze a poultry farm and a betel shop at Harigaon and also damaged several others. They blocked the National Highway near Harigao village for about two hours and raised slogans against the district administration. The blockade could be lifted after positive response of police officers.

Santosh Kumar Sharma, cousin brother of a deceased Manish Kumar Sharma said his father was suffering from illness and so they had admitted him in a private nursing home at Ara near Dharahara. Manish Kumar Sharma along with his father and niece Anchal Kumari and cousin sister Priya Kumari was returning home on a motorcycle when he took brake near Harigao Bazaar, all the four fell to the ground from the motorcycle and a paddy loaded speeding truck coming from behind crushed three of them to death on spot.
