THREE CHILD LABOURS FREED

BHABHUA--------------------------A flying squad formed under the Labour Superintendent by the Labour Enforcemnt Department, Kaimur, conduced raids at three brick kilns at Ramgarh block on Kaimur district and freed three child labours from J H Brick Kiln at Lasanga village. All the freed child labours are residents of Jharkhand. Later all the freed child labours were handed over to the District Child Protection Unit, Kaimur. An FIR was lodged with the police under Ramgarh police station against the employer under the relevant sections of the Child and Adolescent Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act, 1986.

It should be noted that Rs. 3000 is also given to the free child labour as immediate relief and also in the in light of the order of the Honourable Supreme Court in the case M C Mehta vs State of Tamil Naidu, Rs. 20,000 per freed child labour will be realized from the guilty employer and action will be also be taken under the Minimum Wages Act 1948. It is known that under the Child and Adolescent Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act 1986, making children below 14 years of age work and making children between 17 and 18 years of age work in hazardous employments is a cognizable offense in which, if found guilty, there is a provision of fine ranging from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 50,000 (in addition to recovery of Rs. 20,000 per freed child labour from the guilty employer in the light of the order of the Apex Court in the case of M C Mehata vs State of Tamil Naidu) along with imprisonment of 6 months to 2 years.

The Labour Superintendent, Kaimur, Chandan Kumar said that this flying squad is regularly conducted raids in the district, Labour Enforcement Officers Jai Gopal Nath, Ramgarh block, Rajiv Ranjan Nikhar and others were including in the flying squad.
