Dr Sravan Dasoju of BRS Calls for Immediate Action from Revanth Reddy Govt to implement the High Court Order on Caste census
(Prashant Reddy)
Hyderabad (RNI) Dr. Sravan Dasoju has called for urgent action from the Revanth Reddy government following the High Court's directive to complete the caste census and the study on the socio-economic and political backwardness of Backward Classes (BCs). This directive comes at a crucial time ahead of the local body elections, making it clear that the Telangana government must fulfil its commitment to the BC community without delay.
Dr. Sravan emphasized that the Common Order issued by the High Court in three Writ Petitions (WP 20505/2020, WP 7991/2019, WP 8073/2019) places a clear administrative and ethical obligation on the Revanth Reddy-led government to conduct the caste census and a study of the socio-economic and political backwardness of BCs before the local body elections. He noted that this is a critical opportunity for the government to accurately assess the challenges faced by BC communities and to deliver justice.
"The real test of this government's commitment to BCs will be proven only if Shri Revanth Reddy immediately implements the High Court's directive," Dr. Sravan stated. "The government must conduct the caste census and thoroughly study the socio-economic and political backwardness of of all castes in BCs, enhancing their reservations as promised in the BC Declaration made at Kamareddy."
Dr. Sravan urged the Revanth Reddy government to establish a scientific methodology and employ appropriate tools for conducting the caste census, consulting various stakeholders in the process. He stressed that the data collected must effectively substantiate and justify the caste-wise political and socio-economic backwardness of all castes within the BC community, providing a sound basis for implementing equitable policies and social justice.
He further remarked that, if necessary, and given Shri Revanth Reddy’s purported rapport with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Telangana government should either fight or collaborate with the central government to ensure the implementation of enhanced reservations, as promised in the Kamareddy BC Declaration.
