Ara, 18 July 2023, (RNI): Stray animals like dogs, asses, donkeys, cattle, pigs are loitering on roads, lanes and by-lanes of each and every locality in Ara posing threats to local residents and also interrupting flow of traffic but neither the Bhojpur district nor the Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC) is paying heed to this threat.

After formation of the AMC, residents of Ara were hopeful that their town will be neat and clean but the situation became worse. Filth and garbage piled on roadside the drains were filled with silt and the AMC never bother to de-silt despite spending of lakhs of rupees on it. As a result, after a light rain, all the drains brimmed and drain water starts littering on roads and people have to wade through the drain water. Besides, strays animals like dogs, asses, donkeys, pigs, cattle and even monkeys loiter on every road.

The milkmen left their cattle on roads and in the open field after mulching them for grazing on garbage and filth regularly. These cattle wander here and there and they eat rotten food lying on garbage and sometimes they swallow polythene as their owners do not give them to eat and suffer from serious illness or die. People especially children drink their milk also fall ill. The cattle not fit to give milk are left unattended forever. The milkmen left the bulls on roads all day long. These bulls live on garbage only near vegetable markets during day hours and in the night, it is reported that some they are loaded on trucks and are sold to slaughterhouses. Besides, dogs, asses, donkeys and pigs also loiter on roads in number and posing threat to the lives of people and also hamper flow of traffics. People said that as per provision, the Bhojpur district administration and the AMC should catch these stray animals and release them some remote places or in the cowshed (Goshala) where they can get green fodder and enough space to move and thus get rid of the problems but the administration failed to do so yet. These stray animals spread diseases and pose threat to lives.

Municipal Corporation, AMC, Niroj Kumar Bhagat said that the AMC has no enough arrangement for keeping stray animals. The Sri Ara Gaushala has several cattle and now it has no space and so the Sri Ara Guashala administration showed inability to keep cattle.

Ara SDO, Lal Jyoti Nath Shahdev said that he is the president of the Sri Ara Gaushala and added that the Sri Ara Gaushala has not space to keep cattle. He said that he would try to release stray animals to the Diara areas.
