SPEEDING TRUCK CRUSHED TO DEATH A SWEEPER

ARA (RNI) Sand laden speeding truck crushed to death a sweeper near Dechanabal village on Bihia-Bihata main road under Piro police station in Bhojpur district at about midnight. The deceased was identified as Munna Ram son of Umesh Ram of Piro under the same police station. He worked as a sweeper through the NGO at Piro for the last several years. Later the police recovered the body and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem.

SHO Piro police station said that Munna Ram had gone to Dechanabal village under Piro police station to attend a ritual of marriage ceremony there. After taking meal, he was sleeping when it started raining. To escape from the rain, he was going to a school on the other side of the road and while crossing the road, sand laden speeding truck crushed him to dead on spot. Irate villagers blocked the Bihia-Bihat State Highway near Dechanabal Canal Bridge with the body of the deceased and paralyzed movement of vehicles for about eight hours. They were demanding construction of a speed breaker near Dechanabal Dalit Basti and Rs. 4 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased. The blockade could be lifted after positive response of the officials and payment of amount for last rites under the Kabir Antyeshti Scheme.
