SIMARI COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE RUNS WITH ONLY THREE DOCTORS
Ground realities belied the tall claims of Bihar government and even the Health Department to provide all facilities and even medicines to the patient free of cost. The government also claims of radical changes in the health department. A glaring example of government apathy is Community Health Centre at Simari in Buxar district where only three doctors are posted for the treatment of over 3 lakh of population and the hapless patients particularly the poor ones are harried lot who have to go either to Ara, Buxar or Patna for the treatment. Due to lack of staffs and expert doctors, people are not getting cent percent benefits.
BUXAR (RNI) Ground realities belied the tall claims of Bihar government and even the Health Department to provide all facilities and even medicines to the patient free of cost.
In the absence of specialist doctors, patients are destined to seek treatment in private hospitals and part with their hard earned money. Due to lack of specialist doctors, common people are deprived of proper treatment in Simari block of Buxar district. Simari Block is the biggest block in Buxar district with 3 lakh populations and such a big population depends only on three doctors posted in the Community Health Centre at Simari. Surprisingly no specialist doctor is posted there so far. Though the government and the health department claim to provide proper treatment to the people, the ground reality is far away and people are facing a lot of problems. The post of Gynecologist, Ophthalmologist, cardiac, Anesthesia and other specialist doctors are not posted in the Community Health Centre here despite having vacancy and the patients have to go to the District Headquarters, Buxar, Ara or Patna for treatment. In absence of a specialist doctor, the patients have to resort to private hospitals due to which patients become victim of financial exploitation there and also become prey to brothers. In absence of a gynecologist or obstetrician, delivery is done with the help of GNM. Without a specialist doctor, the patient is referred elsewhere. However, due to lack of facilities, it is compulsion of the Community health centre administration to refer.
There are 13 sanctioned posts of doctors in Simari Community Health Centre but at present only three doctors are working here. Patients face a lot of problems in absence of specialist doctors. At least 4500 patients come to the Community Health Centre for treatment every month on an average about 150 patients come to the OPD per day.
Villagers Putul Yadav, Renu Devi, Umesh Tiwari and others say that due to lack of specialist doctors at the Community Health Centre, Patients have to go to Buxar, Ara, Patna for treatment. Government is requested to provide gynecologist, ophthalmologist and some doctors specialist in other fields in the Community Health Centre but the government failed to pay heed to their demands so far and no specialist doctors have so far been deputed in the Community Health Centre so far.
Health Manager, Sanjeev Ranjan said that a demand for specialist doctors has been made to the Health Department and added that it is expected that specialist doctors will be appointed soon. He further said that better treatment and facilities are being provided to the patients as per the resources available. Care is taken to ensure that patients do not face any problem. He said that every possible effort is being made to ensure the benefits of the schemes can reach the beneficiaries.
