ARA--------------------------An old woman was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle near Thakurbadi at Chilhaus village under Sandesh police station on Nasariganj-Sakadi main road in Bhojpur district when she was trying to cross the road. Irate villagers blocked the Nasariganj-Sakadi main road and paralyzed movement of vehicles. They were demanding compensation for the family of the deceased and ban on uncontrolled running of vehicles on road. Then blockade could be lifted after positive response of the police officers. Later the deceased was identified as Prabhavati Devi 70 wife of Rameshwar Singh of Chilhaus village. The police recovered the body and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem and also seized the vehicle and arrested the driver.
SHO Sandesh police statio Vijay Kumar Singh said that the deceased Prabhavati Devi was trying to cross the road to go to her home when a speeding vehicle from Chandi crushed her to death. Meanwhile, the driver was returning Chandi with the vehicle and on the identification of villagers the police seized the vehicle and arrested the driver.
