SENTENCE OF LIFE IMPRISONMENT TO 23 PARTY WORKERS WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE IS JUDICIAL GENOCIDE—DIPANKAR BHATTACHARYA
MEMBERSHIP OF CPI-ML MLA MANOJ MANJIL TERMINATED, CPI-ML KNOCK THE DOOR OF PATNA HIGH COURT.
ARA (RNI) A one day Bhojpur district cadre convention of the CPI-ML held at the R K Marriage Hall at Gadhani under the presidentship of Bhojpur district secretary, CPI-ML Jawahar Lal Singh.
Addressing the convention, national general secretary, CPI-ML Dipankar Bhattacharya said that sentencing 23 of party workers including the Agaiw MLA to life imprisonment without any evidence is judicial genocide. The government felt that they have given a shock to the CPI-ML’s people but whenever an attempt is made to shock them, people give them an even bigger shock.
Bhattacharya said that there is a conspiracy going on in the country to send the leaders of the opposition to jail and the incident in Bhojpur district is a part of BJP’s campaign.
He added that Bhojpur has always been fighting with the feudal forces and their patron parties. Whenever the political fight of the poor is intensified, there have been major attacks. He stated that today when their national identity has increased, their one of the most important leaders, Manoj Manjil who championed the cause of the poor and the down trodden, has become a sore in the eyes of the BJP which is afraid of the increasing popularity of Manoj Manjil. On the other hand, the CPI-ML will go to the Patna High Court against the verdict of the lower court in connection with awarding of life imprisonment to 23 party workers including the CPI-ML MLA from Agiaw Assembly Constituency Manoj Manjil. CPI-ML, State Secretary, Kunal said that the Ara Civil Court awarded life imprisonment to 23 party workers including the MLA Manoj Manjil and a 90 year old person Ramanand Prasad. He stated that the party has resolved to go to the people and launch aggressive agitation from February 19, 2024 to February 25, 2024 besides appealing in the Patna High Court against the verdict of the Ara Civil Court.
Meanwhile, Bihar Legislative Assembly Secretariate terminated the membership of Manoj Manjil, CPI-ML from the Agiaw® Assembly Constituency in Bhojpur district after the MP-MLA Ara Civil Court awarded him life imprisonment along with 22 others in connection with the murder of J P Singh. The Bihar Legislative Assembly Secretary declared the Agiaw ® Assembly Constituency seat vacant and informed the Election Commission in this regard. The seat will be considered vacant with effect from February 13, 2024, the day Manoj Manjil was awarded life imprisonment. As per provision, the membership of any member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly is automatically terminated after he or she is awarded punishment more than two years.
Manoj Manjil 41 belonged to a very poor dalit family became the MLA for the first time on the CPI-ML party ticket from Agiaw ® Assembly Constituency in Bhojpur district in the 2020 assembly election.
