PREGNANT LADY CONSTABLE DIED DURING DELIVERY AT A PRIVATE NURSING HOME AT ARA

Ara, 2 July 2023, (RNI): One pregnant police constable died during delivery at a private nursing home at Mahavir Tola locality under Ara town police station today. The deceased was identified as Abha Kumari 28 wife of Sujit Singh of Majhuyi village under Chainpur police station in Kaimur district. She was posted as a constable at New Police Line in Bhojpur district. Traffic DSP Rakesh Kumar and other police officials rushed to the spot to take firsthand information of the incident.

Sujit Singh, husband of the deceased said that she was nine month pregnant and was undergoing treatment at a private nursing home of Dr Tanima Singh for the last two months. When she complained labour pain in the evening on July 1, 2023, the family members admitted her at the clinic of Dr Tanima Singh at Mahavir Tola. Dr Tanima Singh advised operation and admitted her. In the morning the doctor administered saline and also administered two injections and took her to the operation theatre for operation. After 10 minutes, the doctors called him and informed that the patient had died due to cardiac arrest. Later the family of the deceased took the body to the Ara Sadar Hospital where the police recovered it and got the postmortem done there.

Sujit Kumar blamed that his wife died due to negligence of doctor while the police said that she died during delivery in their review report though only the postmortem report will confirm the exact reason of death.

Civil Surgeon, Ara Sadar Hospital, Dr Suresh Prasad Singh formed a four member committee comprising Dr Jitendra Kumar, Dr Ravi Ranjan, Dr Mahavir Prasad and Dr Madhubala that performed the postmortem of the deceased police constable.

Abha Kumari was appointed constable in Bihar police in the year 2015 and was posted first at Dehri-on-Sone in Rohtas district and later she was transferred to Bhojpur and since she was working at the New Police Line.
