Ara, 8 July 2023, (RNI): The Electricity Act gives the users the right to get power for 24 hours and the consumers are entitled for compensation if power is cut unnecessarily or deliberately. Not only this, the consumers are entitled to compensation even if various services related to electricity are not provided within the stipulated time (SOP). But due to complexity, there is no benefit to the consumers. Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission has made a provision in 2012 itself that if SOP deviate in providing discos services, one or more affected consumers apply before the Executive Engineer of their areas with registered post or hand-to-hand with a receipt. The Executive Engineer will receive the application and within 30 days the compensation amount will be decided. Discos will recover this amount from the defaulting officers of employees. This claim form is made available free of cost in every office.
