POLICE DRIVER SLAPPED A LADY CONSTABLE

Ara, 14 June 2023, (RNI): One police driver Aatish Kumar slapped a lady constable on her cheek near Ward No 5 under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district today that created ripple in police administration. A video of this has become viral on social media.

Md Meraz Zafar of Ward No 5 under Koelwar police station had given a written complaint to the police station against Md Shamim Ahamad blaming that Md Shamim Ahamad was forcibly constructing building in front of his house. For verification of the complaint, a police team reached Ward No 5, the police scuffle with the locals and the people even heckled the police personnel. The police arrested some persons of a group and proceeded towards the police station, the villagers protested and they scuffled with the police personnel.

The villagers blamed that the police driver used vulgar words against the villagers and abused them. When some people were videographing the incident, the police snatched the mobile and threatened to send them to jail. When a lady constable who was one of the members of the patrolling party, forbade the driver to do so, the police driver slapped the lady constable in the presence of villagers and other police personnel. The lady constable fell to the ground. Though, other police personnel intervened and hushed up the matter but someone made video of the incident and viraled it in the social media.

SHO Koelwar police station Avinash Kumar said that when the patrolling party went to the Ward No 5 under Koelwar police station to investigate the complaint filed by Md Meraz Zafar, the villagers disturbed the police. The lady constable was removing the villagers from behind and the police driver slapped her by mistake thinking she was a villager.

Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav said that the matter has come to his knowledge and stern action would be taken against the police driver after investigation within 24 hours though the lady constable has not complaint in this regard so far.
