ARA---------------------------STF and Bihata police jointly conducted raid and arrested an arms smuggler and dreaded criminal from Mahuda under Bihata police station when he was going somewhere with firearms in a Bolero. The arrested arms smuggler was identified as Shrawan Kumar son of late Chandkrika Chaudhary of Rauza locality under Ara town police station in Bhojpur district. The police also recovered two regular rifles, one semi-automatic rifle, one double barrel gun and 102 live cartridges from him. The arrested arms smuggler is also a sand mafia. Over a dozen criminal cases are pending against him in different police stations including Bihata police station. A named FIR was lodged with the police under Bihata police station against him and the police sent him to jail after interrogation.
City SP West said that the police got information that an arms smuggler was going in a Bolero with cache of arms and ammunition. He at once swung into action and laid trap around Mahuda under Bihata police station. Seeing the police, the arms smuggler tried to escape but the police chased and intercepted the Bolero and arrested the arms smuggler Shrawan Kumar. When searched the Bolero, the police recovered cache of arms and ammunition. The police also seized the Bolero. He said that surprisingly the Bolero had registration number of Gypsy. He further added that the police would take the arms smuggler Shrawan Kumar on remand.
