ARA-----------------------Pleasuring firing is a status symbol in Bhojpur district due to which innocent people are being claimed but police administration is trying check the incident but it is increasing instead.

In Bihar, celebratory firing is becoming a status symbol or one can say that it is becoming a certificate of being gangster. The hobby of firing during weddings and celebrations is fatal for people but people are not refraining from celebratory firing. Everyday celebratory firing is done in Bhojpur district and in this, some innocent person dies. The situation is more or less the same in most of the district of Bihar but in Bhojpur district celebrating firing has become certificate of gangster. However, eight out of every ten incidents are committed with illegal firearms. Youngsters between 17 to 25 years of age are the victims.

The police administration and the district administration have also made every effort to stop this. Licenses have been cancelled several times and hundreds of youths have been sent to jail under the Arms Act. Dozens of weddings have turned into mourning, yet a large section of the society deliberately pretends to be unaware of this and then repeats the same mistake.

In Bhojpur district, these incidents increase a lot between April and June. Generally, incidents of celebratory firing are more during ‘Jaimala’ and orchestra and dance programmes. Pleasure firing is done by teenage boys and young boys to show off to each other in their village friends group. Due to lack of experience, they often make mistakes. The mistake is such that it snatches away someone’s husband and Anchal. Even if the police nab the person who made the mistake, he gets bail from the court or gets released on pretext that it was an unintentional murder.
