Patna High Court slapped a fine of Rs. 10 lakh on the Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU) for not complying with the order of the court. The Patna High Court had ordered the VKSU to pay all the arrears of the 129 employees but the VKSU administration failed to abide by the order and the university also could not present the details of salary payment of 129 employees adjusted in various colleges under the university. The VKSU has to pay the fine amount by May 17, 2024. The Divisional Bench of Justice P B Bajanthree, Patna High Court gave this order while hearing the contempt petition filed by 129 employees including Abhishek Pankaj.

ARA--------------------------Patna High Court slapped a fine of Rs. 10 lakh on the Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU) for not complying with the order of the court. The Patna High Court had ordered the VKSU to pay all the arrears of the 129 employees but the VKSU administration failed to abide by the order and the university also could not present the details of salary payment of 129 employees adjusted in various colleges under the university. The VKSU has to pay the fine amount by May 17, 2024. The Divisional Bench of Justice P B Bajanthree, Patna High Court gave this order while hearing the contempt petition filed by 129 employees including Abhishek Pankaj.

In this case, the Patna High Court has fined the VKSU for the third time. Before this, the Patna High Court put the VKSU in the dock twice and fined. The court asked the University’s lawyer as to how much amount the VKSU has given to the employees but the lawyer could not provide this information to the court. The VKSU lawyer kept on demanding the next date but the court took a tough stance and imposed a fine of Rs. 10 lakh on the VKSU for unnecessary delay.

Earlier, the Patna High Court had slapped a fine of Rs. 50,000 on the Registrar of the VKSU in the March this year and earlier Rs. 10,000.

The Registrar of the VKSU, Prof. Ran Vijay said that the VKSU has paid 25% salary of 129 employees in two phases. About Rs. 5 crore has been paid in the firlst phase and about Rs. 3 crore in the second phase. He further said that the lawyer could not present the VKSU’s case strongly in the court and did not present all the documents and as a result the university had to face financial penalty.
