ARA-------------------------------One person was killed while another injured when they came contact with the live electric wire at Ekwari Hanuman Chhapara under Sahar police station in Bhojpur district. The deceased was identified as Rajendra Ram 40 husband of Ward member Kulwanti Devi and son of late Ghurfekan Ram of Hanuman Chhapara and the injured was identified as Narendra Singh 55 of Ekwari village.
Villagers said that Rajendra Ram had gone to his field to uproot paddy saplings at the outskirt of Thand village when he came in contact with live electric wire and was injured. Meanwhile Narendra Singh who was passing by, saw Rajendra Ram sitting in his filed, he came to his rescue but himself was electrocuted and injured. The villagers rushed them to the Ara Sadar Hospital but Rajendra Ram succumbed to his injuries en-route to the Ara Sadar Hospital near Varuna village. As the news of his death spread, the villagers became agitated and blocked the Ara-Arwal main road with the body for about two hours in protest against the dilly-dallying attitude of the electricity department and demanded compensation for the family of the deceased but no one bother to come to the spot that infuriated the villagers all the more and they also blocked the road at the gate of the Guljarbag Power Grid on Ara-Arwal main road with the body and raised slogans against the officials of the electricity department and demanded compensation for the family of the deceased. The Junior Engineer of the electricity department Jitendra Kumar came at the Sahar police station and apologized with the masses and assured to give Rs. 4 lakh to the family members of the deceased with a fortnight. The CPI-ML leaders warned the SDO and the Executive Officer of the electricity department to mend their ways otherwise they have to face the wrath of the general masses.
