A one day Farmer Training based on Farmer Producer Organization under the National Livestock Mission was organized jointly by the Agricultural Science Centre, Bhojpur and the National Seed Corporation, Patna at the main auditorium of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhojpur. Speaking on the occasion, Field Manager, Sanjeev Kumar said that the training was imparted to the farmers to take milk production to a new height. He added that to take milk production in Bhojpur district to new heights, the National Seed Corporation (NSC) has brought many latest varieties of fodder. He said that fodder has an important role in this. Some are annual and some are perennial like Anant Jowar variety which if planted once, the farmers can harvest the fodder continuously for three years.

Dr. Praveen Kumar Dwiwedi, Senior Scientist, Agricultural Science Centre, Bhojpur suggested that first of all try to know the fields and for this, it is necessary to get the soil tested. The soil of Central Bihar is lacking in calcium and hence it is very important to use calcium based fertilizers due to lack of organic carbon in the fields, even after using fertilizers the crop is not getting balanced nutrition. Therefore, two tailors of rotten cow dung manure and composed should be used per acre and also using one quintal of mustard cake in the fields will give a significant increase in crop production and quality.

He further said that doing climate friendly agricultural work has become a necessity today. For this, he advised to apply to 30 to 40 kilogram of Potash fertilizer in field preparation, 250 grams of chelate d zinc and 20% boron per acre of crop in the fields. 45 to 50 days after this, it should be dissolved in different amounts of water and mixed together again and used in hard corps. With their use, due to adequate pollination, unprecedented increase in the number of fruits an be achieved.

Bhojpur District Agriculture Officer, Shatrughan Sahu said that NSC has credibility in the entire country. The seed production and marketing programme was first started by the organization in the country. Later other organizations also started doing this work. He said that the organization has a good reputation in Bhojpur district. The farmers should have their own personal counter where they can buy the seeds. He also gave detailed information about the future projects. The production in-charge of the NSC said that if anyone wants to join the NSC and do a seed production programme, they have to submit a consent letter on a stamp paper of Rs. 1000. Farmers producing seeds will he provide high quality seeds at lower prices instead of normal seeds. It will be purchased by the NSC but before that the fields will be inspected three to four times at various levels and the crops will assessed.

KVK Scientist Shashi Bhushan Kumar Shashi said that today we are producing the highest amount of milk in the world but if talk about mild production per animal, we still far behind especially in term of milk quality. When it comes to this, we are still lagging behind the international standards especially in terms of protein, carotene, fat and minerals. He added that we need to make more efforts to improve in the quality of our mild. We need to feed our animals soybean, cotton cake, carrot and freed fodder should definitely be given in sufficient quantity so that the quality of mild can be significantly improved.
