ONE DAY MUSICAL NITE WAS ORGANIZED TO MARK THE BIRTH CENTENARY OF PLAYBACK SINGER MD. RAFI

ARA (RNI) Under the banner of “Prema ka Susaj” a musical nite ‘Sau Saal Pahale’ was organized on the campus of Ara Nagari Pracharini Sabha to the mark the birth centenary of playback singer of Hindi Cinema, Md. Rafi. Singers from Ara, Buxar, Daltenganj, Jharkhand sang 100 songs sung by Md Rafi and mesmerized the audience. Also those who answered questions based on the personality and work of Md Rafi were rewarded. Singers Dharmendra Kumar, Md. Rafi, Raj Kumar, Sunita Pandey, Iqbal Sami and a teacher Ramesh Kumar inaugurated the function by lighting the ceremonial candle jointly and they also garlanded the portrait of Md. Rafi. Dr. Vibha Kumari conducted the programme while Shamshad Prem organized it. At the end of the programme, the artists and audience observed two minutes silence on the sudden demise of a singer Md. Mannavar Ansari and paid tributes to him.

Singers Dharmendra Kumar and Rajani Shakya sang ‘Sau saal pahle mujhe tumse pyar tha…,’ Rajaram Sharma sang ‘Nache man mora magan thikdha digi digi’ while Dr. Amit Jaisawal ‘Tu kaha ye bata is nashili rat me’ Md Naushad ‘ek na ek din kahani banegi..’ Sabina Ansari ‘Aye fulon ki rani, baharon ki malika..’Alka Sharan ‘Na jhatako zilf se paani..’ Kumar Anupam ‘Ye chand sa roshan chehara’ Md Rafi ‘Khuda bhi aasman se jb jamin par dekhtaa hogaa..’ Ambey Sharan ‘Babul ki duaayen leti jaa…’ Srishti ‘Madhuban me radhika naache re…’ Raj Kumar and Arati Maurya ‘Chhup gaye saare nazare oye kya baat ho gayi…’ Ramesh Kumar and Srishti ‘Jhilmil sitaron ka aangan hoga…’ Dharmendra Kumar and Sanjana Singh ‘Bekhudi me sanam uth gaye jo kadam…’ Shamshad Prem and Sargam ‘Sathiyan nhi jaanaa ki dil na lage..’ Navin Kumar and Sunita Pandey ‘Ye parada hataa do, ye mukhada dikha do….’ Ramesh Kumar and Md. Naushad ‘Saath ajoobe is duniya me aathvi apni Jodi..’ sang so beautifully the songs sung by Md Rafi that kept the audience spellbound and forced them to be on their legs clapping.

Speaking on the occasion, Shamshad Prem said that Md. Rafi Saheb was not only a good artist but also affine gentleman. His contribution to the Indian film music cannot be forgotten. Even after years of his death, he still has a good number of his fans worldwide.

During the programme, anchor, actor, poet and blogger Javed Naseem from Hyderabad, musician Dilip Sen from Mumbai, Umesh Makhija from Gujarat, Rafi Arun Gautam from Delhi who has built a temple and museum of Md Rafi in his house, Sanjeev Dixit from Lucknow were also present on the occasion. Actor Ghanshyam Upadhyaya from Mumbai gave congratulatory messages and it was shown by Hindi Officer-in-charge cum library and Information Assistant, Doordarshan Kendra from Bhubaneshwar, Rajesh Tiwari through projector.

The artists were felicitated with certificates of appreciation, shawls and mementos. Singer Sunita Pandey and Dharmendra Kumar were given Md. Rafi Smriti Samman.

To commemorate the birth centenary of Md. Rafi, 100 saplings were planted at different places in Ara. Save World Environment Institute had commendable cooperation in this regard. Besides, Quran Khani was also organized in the memory of Md. Rafi Saheb.
