Newlywed married woman was strangulated to death at Nimez Village under Brhmpur police station in Buxar district merely for dowry.
Buxar, 21 June 2023, (RNI): Newlywed married woman was strangulated to death at Nimez Village under Brhmpur police station in Buxar district merely for dowry. Later the in-laws escaped from the scene after the incident. The police recovered the body and brought it to the Buxar Sadar Hospital for postmortem and arrested the mother-in-law of the deceased. The deceased was identified as Kusum Devi 28 wife of Shakti Prasad of Nimez village. A named FIR was lodged with the police under Brahmpur police station against the in-laws including the husband of the deceased on the statement of the father of the deceased. Police are investigating the matter and also conducting raids to arrest the miscreants.
SHO Bhrampur police station Baijnath Chaudhary said that Surendra Prasad of Ariyaw village under Krishna Braham police station married his daughter Kusum Devi to Shakti Prasad son of Bashishth Prajapati of Nimez village under Brahmpur police station in Buxar district. Since the in-laws tortured her for a washing machine, a sofa and some other articles as dowry and when their demands were not fulfilled, they strangulated her to death.
