NEWLYWED WOMAN STRANGULATED TO DEATH FOR DOWRY

SASARAM----------------------------Newlywed woman was killed merely for dowry at Bardiha village under Natwar police station in Rohtas district. An FIR was lodged with the police under Natwar police station in this regard against the husband Rahul Kumar Singh, mother-in-law Reena Devi and the father-in-law of the deceased on the statement of the father of the deceased. After institution of FIR, the police swung into action and arrested the mother-in-law Reena Devi of the deceased and sent her to jail. Police recovered the body and brought it to the Sasaram Sadar Hospital for postmortem. Police are also investigating the matter and conducting raids to arrest the rest named accused.

Quoting the FIR, the SHO Natwar police station Bipin Bihari said that Akhilesh Kumar Singh of Baligawa village under Nokha police station married his daughter Priti Kumari 20 with Rahul Kumar Singh of Bardiha village under Natwar police station in June 2023. Since the in-laws started torturing her mentally and physically for dowry. Priti Kumari had informed her parents regarding the demands several times and when their demands were not fulfilled, the in-laws strangulated her to death. As her parents knew about it, they informed the police. On information, the police reached the spot and recovered the body and brought it to the Sasaram Sadar Hospital for postmortem. The police also arrested the mother-in-law Reena Devi and sent her to jail.
