ARA---------------------------Bhojpur police recovered body of a newlywed woman hanging to the ceiling fan of a house at Gothhual village under Ara Muffassil police station and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem. The deceased was identified as Seema Devi 18 wife of Ramu Chaudhary of Gothhual village under Ara Muffassil police station in Bhojpur district. The family members of the deceased blamed that her in-laws killed her merely for a gold chain and hanged her body to the ceiling fan to give it a clour of suicide. An FIR was lodged with the police under Ara Muffassil police station on this regard on the statement of the mother of the deceased Lakhpati Devi and the police are investigating the matter.
Lakhapati Devi wife of Binod Chaudhary of Agarsanda village under Dhobaha police station and mother of the deceased said that she married her daughter Seema Devi to Ramu Chaudhary son of Uma Shankar Chaudhary of Gothhula village under Ara Muffassil police station on December 9, 2024 at Bakhorapur Kali temple with pomp and also gave Rs.3 lakh in cash at the time of ‘Tilak’. Her husband worked in Rajkot in Gujarat and had gone there 15 days ago. Some days after the marriage, her mother-in-law Jeera Devi tortured her merely for a gold chain saying that she would not let her live if her demand was not fulfilled. She further said that she had gone to her daughter’s in-laws on January 14, 2025 and returned the same day and since she had not talk with her daughter. Meanwhile, the villagers informed that her daughter died in the evening on January 24, 2025. On information she and other family members rushed to the spot and found lying dead on the floor of the house. Later they informed the police and the police recovered the body and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
Lakhpati Devi further blamed the mother-in-law of the deceased Jeera Devi of killing her daughter by strangulating her throat merely for a gold chain.
