NEWLY WED WOMAN STRANGULATED TO DEATH FOR A MOTORCYCLE AND GOLD CHAIN
-The in-laws strangulated to death a newlywed woman and hung the body to give a colour of suicide at Jagdeo Nagar under Nawada police station in Bhojpur district merely for a bullet motorcycle and a gold chain in dowry.
Ara, 24 July 2023, (RNI): The in-laws strangulated to death a newlywed woman and hung the body to give a colour of suicide at Jagdeo Nagar under Nawada police station in Bhojpur district merely for a bullet motorcycle and a gold chain in dowry. The deceased was identified as Sweety Devi 25 wife of Vishal Kumar of Karisath village under Gajrajganj police outpost but she along with her in-laws lived in their new house at Jagdeo Nagar under Nawada police station. Later her family members blocked the road with the body and paralyzed movement of traffic. They were demanding arrest of culprits at the earliest. The blockade could be lifted after positive response of the police officials. Later the police recovered the body and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem. A named FIR has been lodged with the police under Nawada police station in this regard on the statement of the brother of the deceased Ujjawal Kumar against the husband, Vishal Singh, father-in-law, Kameshwar Singh, mother-in-law Usha Devi and Sister-in-law. Police are investigating the matter and also conducting raids to arrest the culprits.
Quoting the FIR, the SHO Nawada police station said that Sweety Kumari daughter of Manoj Singh of Danwar village under Kachh police station in Rohtas district was married to Vishal Singh son of Kameshwar Singh of Karisath village Gajrajganj police outpost in Bhojpur district on February 17, 2023 and Rs. 12 lakh and other valuables were given at the time of marriage. Her husband is an employee of a finance company. A month after the marriage, her husband and the in-laws started torturing and thrashing her merely for a bullet motorcycle, a gold chain, AC and others items. Since last 10 days, the in-laws snatched her mobile and did not allow her to talk to anyone. At about 11pm on July, 23, 2023, her parents were informed that their daughter died. On their information, the parents and brother of the deceased rushed to spot and blocked the road with the body.
